Visit the canal tour and the city temple. The most interesting sight of Thailand and one of the great Venice of the East. As you will see traces of the Early Rattanakosin period such as architecture and traditional ways of life have been left by the river more than in the inland areas. Besides, waterways at that time were the most important means of transportation and trading as well. Moreover, the variety of temple grounds are filled with a bewildering number of other buildings and sacred structures are taken together. Canals referred to khlong in Thai have always been vital forms of communication. When the capital of Thailand was moved to Bangkok in 1782 (the beginning of the Rattanakosin period), the capital was laced with canals, so Bangkok was sometimes called the “VENICE OF THE EAST” by European visitors. In the past, Bangkokians usually settled by the Chao Phraya River and gradually spread into the core of the country.
Morning : Boarding on a longtail- boat and set out to discover another and quiet unexpected side of Bangkok. In Thonburi, on the westbank of the Chaophraya, you will get the impression to entered the local life of people. “Is this still Bangkok?” you may find yourself asking, as you are driving by wooden houses on stilts in an almost serene atmosphere. Observe and take some interesting pictures, of people living nearby the river which called “Venice of the East”.
Afternoon : After lunch, our tour will start at Wat Trimitr ( Golden Buddha Temple ) the statue of Buddha is made from solid gold weighting 5.5 tons. It is a fine example of Sukhothai art and was discovered by chance from a layer of stucco during construction of the temple.
Secondly, we drive passing through Chinatown, vegetable and flower market and stop to visit Wat Po (Reclining Buddha ) a 46 meters long and 15 meters high and this temple is the largest and oldest temple in Bangkok.
Last temple is Wat Benchamabopit – the marble temple. This magnificent monastery was built with white Italian marble while it become one of the most magnificent temple in Bangkok.
